Ilmatar – The Power of the Sea and Wind!

Ilmatar was born from an idea of the power of nature – wind, sea and Mother Earth.

There is no figure of Ilmatar in the painting. Instead, her presence can be felt through the elements of nature: the powerful sea, the moving air and the horizon where sky and water meet.

To me, Ilmatar represents a creative force. Something ancient and greater than ourselves, something that existed long before us and will continue long after us.

The sea can be calm and powerful at the same time. The wind is invisible, yet present everywhere.

Perhaps that is why this painting feels, above all, like an image of the power and freedom of nature.
